A fresh start
Pierrot and Elodie, married for nearly 20 years and parents of two teenagers, are originally from the beautiful Alsace region of France.
Passionate about travel and food
Leaving everything behind to travel
Our lives were devoted to caring for others. Pierrot was the founder and CEO of a personal care services company, and Elodie was a nurse. Although deeply committed to our careers, we managed to balance work and family life beautifully. But the COVID pandemic made us realize how fragile life is and prompted us to rethink our priorities.
That is how the idea of selling everything and travelling around the world in a motorhome was born.
Time to reflect
Travelling throughout Europe, the Maghreb and Turkey was an extraordinary experience, filled with new encounters, changes of scenery, culinary discoveries and almost daily moments of wonder. Dedicating all that time to our family allowed us to reflect on what would come next. One thing became clear: we no longer wanted to return to France. Canada, and especially Quebec, felt like a natural choice. The dream of a cabin in Canada, the wide-open spaces, the bilingual culture and the legendary kindness of Canadians… We loved it all.
Love at first sight
In January 2023, we came on an exploratory trip to see whether our idealized vision matched reality. We took our first steps on Canadian soil in temperatures of −20°C. We discovered the inn covered in snow, and it was magnificent. After spending a week here, we returned home certain that our future with our children lay here, at the Manoir in Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade.
A fresh start
We landed in Montreal on May 28, 2024, bringing just a few clothes, an exciting project and a close-knit family ready for the challenge. We renovated Auberge du Manoir to reflect who we are: welcoming and comfortable. We want our guests to feel at home, with all the comforts they desire. Our food will be flavourful and varied, inspired by the culinary discoveries we made on our travels.
